HO HO HO! Merry Christmas!ย

In the light of the Christmas spirit, we wanted to share some Christmas joy and wish everyone a fantastic holiday. But we also want you to be safe, so please read through these fire safety guidelines to remember how to stay safe this Christmas!ย

๐ŸŽ…๐Ÿผ Test your smoke alarms monthly – and remember to change the batteries if you havenโ€™t for a while.

๐ŸŽ…๐Ÿผ Check that your Christmas lights are compliant and carry the British Safety Standard sign!

๐ŸŽ…๐Ÿผ Never place candles near a Christmas tree or materials that are flammable.

๐ŸŽ…๐Ÿผ Do not leave your cooker unattended – keep an eye on that turkey!

๐ŸŽ…๐Ÿผ Do not cook when under the influence or sleepy.

๐ŸŽ…๐Ÿผ Always have a fire plan, and make sure to inform your guests and anyone staying with you for the holidays.

๐ŸŽ…๐Ÿผ Put out cigarettes properly and donโ€™t just throw them in a dustbin.

๐ŸŽ…๐Ÿผ Donโ€™t hang decorations on heaters or lamps/lights.

๐ŸŽ…๐Ÿผ Donโ€™t leave candles unattended or in the reach of children – hide the matches too!

๐ŸŽ…๐Ÿผ Always switch off your Christmas lights before you go to bed.

๐ŸŽ…๐Ÿผ Never overload your electrical sockets.

๐ŸŽ…๐Ÿผ Store fireworks safely and always keep a bucket of water nearby when using them.

๐ŸŽ…๐Ÿผ Be careful when around fire places and open fires. Clothing is flammable.

๐ŸŽ…๐Ÿผ Always check on your older relatives and neighbours as they are at greater risk from fire, and make sure they are practicing fire safety at home.

We wish everyone the very best, safest Christmas ๐ŸŽ„

And remember to check in on those who are more affected by the holiday season.
