No floor plans or drawings? No problem!

We have seen it all. When you work in fire protection long enough, especially in the United Kingdom, you’re bound to have seen buildings of every imaginable age. Some buildings, particularly the newer ones, have detailed floor plans and drawings that contractors can access easily. Some of those drawings might even be digital, allowing teams to add in works completed with ease.

However, 300 years ago, we didn’t have a CAD software to draft floor plans. So there are many buildings that never had their floor plans drawn, far less updated over the years. While many buildings now have drawings done, you might still find yourself without floor plans on a job. Sometimes, you can’t complete a job without them, but for fire protection operatives, now you can.

What to do if you don’t have floor plans?

One thing you can do immediately is take photos of the location. By taking photos, and then marking them up as you need to, as a fire protection operative, you’ll be able to provide some visual context for yourself or another team member in the future. With Onetrace’s active and passive fire protection software, you can do this right in the app. All you do is take the photos in the app, mark them up in the app if you need to, and then, BAM! They are all uploaded like magic. It’s brilliant if you ask us.

Another option is a rough sketch. Some of the more artistically inclined fire protection operatives draw a rough sketch, either on paper, on their tablet or even on their phones, and upload it using the same way that you’d upload a photo. And like magic, the team at the office can see all of this in real time! You can even take this one step further by drafting a floor plan on your laptop or at the office, but as many fire protection operatives work remotely, this might not always be the best solution.

Onetrace works well with or without floor plans and allows your team to complete a job with the flexibility that they need. Some active and passive fire protection software options force you to have specific items added to a project or job file before you can begin, but Onetrace gives you back that control, allowing your team to work towards accreditation standards, if the app is used effectively.

Why Onetrace is the best active and passive fire protection software

We understand one size does not fit all, but we built Onetrace with third party accreditations, remote working models and the RIBA workflow in mind. This gives you and your team the peace of mind that our active and passive fire protection software works with you, not against. It’s designed so that your boots on the ground are always connected with your team in the office and vice versa. Real-time updates give your coordination teams a genuine sense of job completion without having to chase your fire protection operatives on the job.

Having everything in one place is a godsend for those on the field. No more sifting through emails to find documents, photos and drawings. Everything that you need for the job is right there in the app. If it’s not there before you visit a job, the transparency within Onetrace’s app allows you to look in advance and reach out to your office team, if you’re on site, and let them know something is missing. The real-time workflow means that once they have uploaded that document, you can see it on your device, almost instantaneously.

Working remotely has never been this efficient for fire protection operatives. Onetrace active and passive fire protection software will give your team everything they need to succeed, and everything you need for third party accreditations, if you have them or are working towards them. If you’re ready to take the next step to increased efficiency for your fire protection team, it’s as simple as getting in touch or requesting a demo. If you’re not ready to commit, that’s okay - you can try Onetrace completely free for 14 days with zero obligation or commitment! It’s really that simple.
